A New Way of Learning Math

Last October 15th of 2012, I was given a chance to attend an exceptional educational workshop here in the Philippines about Singapore Math, hosted by Galileo Enrichment Learning Program.
Mrs. Ma. Rowena Juan-Matti, Chief Executive Officer of Galileo Enrichment Learning Program,  introduced to us what Singapore Math basically is. The mission of the program is "to help empower learners by providing opportunities for learning enrichment that will make them independent, life-long learners." And its vision is "to be the preferred educational program that provides quality products and services that would advance the learning of their students."
Singapore Math is continuously implemented in, well, Singapore. That's why this country has been consistent in their top ranking at TIMSS (Trends in International  Mathematics and Science Study).

So, what is Singapore Math? Basically, Singapore Math applies pictorial models to bridge the gap between concrete mathematical experiences (e.g., using objects to act out what math concepts mean) and abstract representation (using symbols like numbers to convey mathematical ideas). These pictorial models include, but are not limited to, bar models, number bonds, ten frames, arrays and place value charts.

Now, what is Galileo Enrichment Learning Program all about? Galileo is a meaningful, exciting and fun Math and English after-school enrichment program for children 3-12 years old. This age range is the best time to begin your child's journey and the sooner you get him into the program, the sooner he will be able to gain the program's benefits.

Galileo Enrichment Learning Program has the ability to help your child improve his/her school grades, become academically competitive, and develop a positive attitude towards studying by associating fun with learning. He/she will nurture skills and talents, and they will definitely gain lots of friends through these modules.

I feel like I was back in elementary school when they taught us Singapore Math. I got to know how easy and fun Math could be. What more if you enroll your child? They will surely learn the secrets of Singapore Math like I did, who wasn't very good with this subject to begin with, hahaha.
For us working moms, it will absolutely give us more time for our children because Galileo can make learning Math easier for them with the Singapore Math course.
Galileo Enrichment Learning Program is also offering those educators at heart an opportunity to franchise. The brochure on the left can tell you more about it if you're interested.

I had so much fun because I didn't know that learning Math can be this interesting. And now, I can share it to my kids and to you, ka-Momsie, who might be having a difficult time teaching Math in a "traditional" way. Your child won't feel as bored anymore when it comes to solving basic Mathematical problems.

I bet you wanna try this one, ka-Momsie, right?
