Blackbeard's Seafood Island: Seafood Galore!

This was my first time at Blackbeard's Seafood Island at Harbor Point and  "Bonding" together with my friends who lived far from Metro Manila proved very exciting.
It was their grand opening and everybody celebrated the Seafood Bonding Extreme.

I was able to try one of their best selling Boodle Feasts, "PANLASANG PINOY", (3-4 persons at P875.00)-(5-6 persons at P1,365) which includes Hipon sa Aligue, Sinuglaw, Ginataang Alimango, Adobong Manok, Kare-Kareng Gulay, Ensaladang Lato, and Plain Rice.
How about trying their best Pica-Pica, the 'CALAMARES FRITOS', that cost only P185.00 per serving. Even when cool, it doesn't lose its crunch.

Their dishes are 100% fresh ensuring high quality in taste and flavor. And the way they design and present each Boodle Feast... EXCELLENT!

You too can experience this Seafood Bonding Extreme by simply going to your nearest branch, ka-Momsie...

OMF Literature Inc.: "We Publish by the Book"

ONE OF OMF's BEST SELLERS...

Have you heard about Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) Literature? It is a bookstore located at 776 Boni Ave cor Pinatubo St. 1550 Mandaluyong City Metro Manila, Philippines.

I was given a chance to attend OMF's Bloggers Night event and I was able to meet Mr. Aleks Tan, one of the speakers of the said event. He explained to us the different reasons why we read: to escape, to experience and to enrich ourselves. We read to life transformation, to inspire lives and most especially to encounter God by reading the Bible.

OMF's best selling book, "The Purpose Driven Life", a paperback format written by Rick Warren. This is one of my favorite books, but honestly, I wasn't aware that it was published by OMF. LOL. I just learned when Mr. Tan mentioned it.
Now, they want to introduce their literary pieces in E-Book format for easy access. Ebooks are delivered almost instantaneously. You can purchase, download and start reading them within minutes, without leaving your chair. You don't have to go to a bookstore to buy them, neither will you have to wait for them for days, weeks and sometimes even more to arrive in the mail. With today's technology, you can read E-Books everywhere, on the bus, train, airplane, or while standing in line.

After knowing about using E-Book on the Internet, I had fun doing different activities with OMF's different authors. I was able to meet OMF's best writers, like Grace Chong ("What Me Retire!"), Marlene Legaspi-Munar ("Add Mo Ko As Friend"),  Robert Magnuson ("Porcupirate"), Ruth Chang ("How To Win Your Child's Heart"), Malu Tiongson-Ortiz ("My Child Special Needs"), Nelson Dy ("How to Mend a Broken Heart"), and  Ronald Molmisa of ("Lovestruck").

They were all nice and awesome!

My favorite part of the event is getting to know the author of "Si Joey at ang Gulay Gang" and that's Beng Alba, to whom I was really thankful for because through her book, my son is now a "Vegetable Fanatic". LOL. She was also one of the speakers of the event.

I was so lucky that I was able to experience this wonderful and meaningful event because this encouraged me to read more and it made me realize what life can really offer to a person like me. How about you, ka-Momsie? Have you tried reading their books and E-Books? Try to experience it and it will definitely help you in dealing with people from different walks of life.

For my next post, ka-Momsie, I will introduce to you the different authors, their achievements and contributions. Maybe they can also inspire you into the world of writing. Stay tuned!

Blackbeard's Seafood Island: "Seafood, Sarap, Saya!"

It's only normal for us to celebrate life with  friends and family by going to karaoke bar, swimming, travelling, etc... But one thing we always do is enjoy each other's company while enjoying a great   meal in a restaurant, or what I like to call, "RESTO+FOOD+BONDING".

Well, how about taking that to the extreme? A “Seafood Bonding Extreme,” to be exact, in Blackbeard’s Seafood Island!

Celebrating 8 years of Seafood Bonding, BSI has opened its 22nd store in Robinsons Magnolia, and they have invited us to experience a unique innovation of casual dining that will meet customer’s satisfaction in a most extravagant way: The first, the original…Boodle Feast!

Oh, and what a feast it is! They provide us with a wide array of their Island-Inspired Filipino dishes in a setting that is perfect for sharing and promotes a literal "BONDING" experience like eating directly from the same big banana leaf-lined boodle tray, where authentic and freshly cooked food is uniquely laid out and eating with one's hand is encouraged. Whether in developing its menu or styling its store design, BSI always tries to stay true to its core values of Seafood, Sarap, Saya.

                                               MT. APO

By the way, this Boodle Feast is called Mt. Apo, and it’s one of the best Boodle Feasts for me, ka-Momsie. For only P1,650.00 (5-6persons),
"Mapapa-kamay ka talaga" because of the complete variants of their menu, from grilled chicken and pork to different kinds of seafood. It's really mouthwatering, especially the way they presented and arranged the food.

                                                        PINOY NACHOS
One of their bestsellers, under Island's PICA-PICA, the PINOY NACHOS. This is a different kind of Nachos. Super thin but super crunchy, and super yummy because of the ripe mango tidbits, for only P165.00.

                                     TALI BEACH

I didn’t have the opportunity to take a good look at the TALI BEACH Boodle Feast when I first saw it during my birthday (TY Alex!). During this event, I got another chance, and I took advantage. Staring at it made me imagine being in the beach with my friends and enjoying freshly grilled seafood with sliced watermelon and green mangoes. One of my friends was telling me, “Pwede bang no touch at ipa-laminate ko na lang”? LOL.

                                          CHANG'S CHINA CHOW
The next time I visit BSI, I'll make sure to try this one. "View pa lang, katakam-takam na. What more pa kaya the quality of taste...?" Yum, yum, yum.
.
You've never really "Bonded" until you've celebrated with a BSI Boodle Feast. A get-together with a Boodle Feast is sure to be a most memorable celebration of your life. And also the kind that makes for "photo moments" and "FB Posts".
How can you even resist of going to a place like this, ka-Momsie? For a real "BONDING" moment?
BSI is the perfect place to be.

LEAVING YESTERDAY BEHIND

FOR YEARS I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FORGET YOU
FOR YEARS I'VE BEEN TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM THE OLD MEMORIES
AND FOR YEARS I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET RID OF YOU UNDER MY SYSTEM
BUT STILL... YOU STILL PULLED MY HEART FROM REMINISCING

I REALLY THOUGHT THAT SEEING YOU ONCE AGAIN
WOULD CHANGE MY WORLD
BUT THE LOVE YOU OFFERED BEFORE...?
FADED AWAY... LOST... GONE...
NO MORE FOREVERMORE
REGRET IS WHAT I AM EMBRACING NOW
RELISHING ITS WARMTH WITH BITTER TEARS
BECAUSE I TRULY CARED FOR YOU...
AND HONESTLY, I STILL DO

BUT I MUST ACCEPT REALITY 'S COLD AND SINCERE GUIDANCE
 TO FINALLY LEAVE YESTERDAY BEHIND
FATE HAS LEFT OUR SIDE TAKING WITH IT
THE LOVE THAT WE'LL NEVER HAVE AGAIN... EVER.

Chicken Bon Chon, Philippines

It feels good when you and your friends have the same taste when it comes to food tripping. But for the place to eat? OMG! Lots of suggestion from my officemates about where are we going to eat dinner during one particular night. Some said, "We'll eat there, " while the other said, "Let's eat here." Kaloka. Hahaha...
Until we finally decided to try this:
"The Original Korean Fried Chicken Secret"

BON CHON AT AYALA TRIANGLE, GARDENS MAKATI

Four of my officemates tried the DRUMSTICK/THIGH RICEBOX, two pieces for only P145.00 including one regular choice of drinks.
And I tried the CRISPY SQUID RICEBOX for only P145.00 including one regular choice of drinks. I would suggest that you upgrade your drinks because it's hot and spicy.
While enjoying the crispiness, of the chicken's hot juicy meat and the addictive spicy glaze taste of Spicy Squid, we were also able to enjoy looking at those young people who were wearing Halloween costumes.
But wait! We tried also their Banoffee Pie, for only P75.00. Superb Korean Yogurt for me.
So now, after a long hours of working, we can easily decide where to go, to chitchat while enjoying BON CHON's food. Yum, yum, yum, ka-Momsie. Try it!

I heart "SumoSam"

Who wouldn't be enticed to such a very cozy place like this, ka-Momsie? With their cool ambiance you wouldn't even think twice of dining in. Welcome, to SumoSam.

This is owned by Marvin Agustin and business partners who happened to be one of the speakers that day.
I myself had a chance to experience the taste of their new launched products.

One of my favorites is the succulent Tonkatsu Kurobuta which the Kurobuta pork is the most expensive pork in Japan. It has an extraordinary ingredients.
                                          Tonkatsu Kurobuta

And the chef demo, two thumbs up, because of the traditional Japanese way of cooking Tonkatsu Kurobuta.

With the price of P499.00, served with Gohan and Tofu Miso Soup, Tonkatsu Sauce, Sesame dressing and White Sesame seeds. Plus, you can enjoy unlimited Japanese coleslaw or unlimited rice.

I was able to try their new Japanese pizzas such as Kani & Cheese Pizza and Shrimp Enoki Pizza. So flavorful, mouthwatering and inviting to the human eye, you will definitely won't be able to resist ordering another pizza, hahaha. They have also Chicken Teriyaki & Mango but unluckily I haven't tried this one. But don't worry ka-Momsie... Next time, I will.

Dining is not complete without the dessert. LOL. The most awaited dessert, the Chocolate Ganache Cake with chocolate dipped oranges and wasabi ice cream, with its chocolatey and sweet smell that I  imagined I was already in Japan, hahaha... Yum, yum, yum. That's all I can say.

What about franchising? With its fastest growing casual dining Japanese restaurant chain, you can now have the opportunity to franchise SumoSam.

I love SumoSam that's why SumoSam meets SumoMom like me. LOL.

For more details for franchising, please contact Ms. Joy Sulit at 0917-5509131 / 623-7255

2ND SINGAPORE MATH LEARNING FESTIVAL

The 2nd Singapore Math Learning Festival will be held on February 9, 2013 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Ortigas. The conference will focus on how Singapore Math can complement and provide supplementary learning to the implementation of the K-12 program, a new development of the Department of Education.

The K-12 program is an initiative to give students opportunities to master essential skills and competencies by stretching and extending their learning years to the 12th grade. It focuses on depth rather than on breadth, giving them more time to realize the importance of each concept and connect it to more complex and higher learning.

In this age of global competitiveness, parents are looking for schools that would unlock the potential of each child in the core subjects, one of each is Mathematics. Schools are now adopting Singapore Math into their Math curriculum and instruction, which has paved the way in creating excellent critical thinkers and better Math students.

Parents, teachers and school administrators might ask, "What is Singapore Math and how does it fit into the K-12 curriculum?"

Singapore Math focuses on developing critical thinking through mastery of foundational skills. It teaches students a systematic way of learning seemingly difficult math concepts through child-friendly terms and relatable experiences. This complements the K-12 curriculum, as it strengthens key concepts and provides opportunities to apply it in daily activities as well as in other subjects.

There will be concurrent learning sessions that will tackle topics such as the basics of Singapore Math, how Singapore Math can be applied in various activities inside and outside the classroom, manipulatives and materials enhance a child's learning capabilities, innovative activities in teaching Geometry and Fractions, and how Singapore Math helps students transition from basic to algebraic concepts.

The conference will also feature a plenary lecture by Dra. Queena Lee-Chua Math professor and multi-awarded  educator,  and her son Scott Chua, a multi-awarded student and a Carlos Palanca Awardee for Literature.

For a bigger discount:

Those who are school administrators, teachers, parents and stakeholders are invited to attend this extraordinary event on February 9, 2013.

A New Way of Learning Math

Last October 15th of 2012, I was given a chance to attend an exceptional educational workshop here in the Philippines about Singapore Math, hosted by Galileo Enrichment Learning Program.
Mrs. Ma. Rowena Juan-Matti, Chief Executive Officer of Galileo Enrichment Learning Program,  introduced to us what Singapore Math basically is. The mission of the program is "to help empower learners by providing opportunities for learning enrichment that will make them independent, life-long learners." And its vision is "to be the preferred educational program that provides quality products and services that would advance the learning of their students."
Singapore Math is continuously implemented in, well, Singapore. That's why this country has been consistent in their top ranking at TIMSS (Trends in International  Mathematics and Science Study).

So, what is Singapore Math? Basically, Singapore Math applies pictorial models to bridge the gap between concrete mathematical experiences (e.g., using objects to act out what math concepts mean) and abstract representation (using symbols like numbers to convey mathematical ideas). These pictorial models include, but are not limited to, bar models, number bonds, ten frames, arrays and place value charts.

Now, what is Galileo Enrichment Learning Program all about? Galileo is a meaningful, exciting and fun Math and English after-school enrichment program for children 3-12 years old. This age range is the best time to begin your child's journey and the sooner you get him into the program, the sooner he will be able to gain the program's benefits.

Galileo Enrichment Learning Program has the ability to help your child improve his/her school grades, become academically competitive, and develop a positive attitude towards studying by associating fun with learning. He/she will nurture skills and talents, and they will definitely gain lots of friends through these modules.

I feel like I was back in elementary school when they taught us Singapore Math. I got to know how easy and fun Math could be. What more if you enroll your child? They will surely learn the secrets of Singapore Math like I did, who wasn't very good with this subject to begin with, hahaha.
For us working moms, it will absolutely give us more time for our children because Galileo can make learning Math easier for them with the Singapore Math course.
Galileo Enrichment Learning Program is also offering those educators at heart an opportunity to franchise. The brochure on the left can tell you more about it if you're interested.

I had so much fun because I didn't know that learning Math can be this interesting. And now, I can share it to my kids and to you, ka-Momsie, who might be having a difficult time teaching Math in a "traditional" way. Your child won't feel as bored anymore when it comes to solving basic Mathematical problems.

I bet you wanna try this one, ka-Momsie, right?
